Our Art Teacher

My name is Melinda LeBoeuf and I am excited to be the art teacher at Duke Elementary!  I have been teaching for twelve years and earned a BA in art history with honors and a M.Ed. in art education, both from the University of Houston.  Go Coogs!  I joined Alvin ISD in 2013. Prior to that, I taught art at the Children's Cancer Hospital at MD Anderson Cancer Center and worked with patients to design art for holiday cards and gift items to support pediatric services.  I have also taught art at the elementary level in Houston, have taught at summer enrichment programs at City of Houston park facilities, and am involved in a local arts education nonprofit.

I am married and have two boys.  We have two dogs, two cats, nine fish, and a snake!  In my spare time, I enjoy painting, ceramics, and reading.  I love to run and am a member of the Pearland Area Road Runners.  I have completed four marathons and numerous other races.  If you are up early on a Saturday, you might catch me running in the area! I am currently training with my son so that he can complete his first half marathon in January.

I am excited to provide engaging and creative art instruction to the students at Duke Elementary.  My passions for art history, art education, children's literature, and integrative instruction will be evident in the projects you see on this blog and in the stories your children tell about their time in art class.

Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have at mleboeuf@alvinisd.net.
